I really love it when...

all the toilet paper is gone and you have to yell for five minutes for someone to bring it to you cause you can't get up.

you plan to spend just five minutes wasting time and it turns into two hours.

there is an essay to write and you were going to be finished by ten o'clock...it's ten o'clock and you're just starting your essay.

you have so much free time to get homework done and yet, you get nothing done.

time has been going by so fast and there are two weeks until school is done and it's taking forEVER.

the only text message you get all day is from your father saying "DINNER." love him.

your alarm clock goes off at 6:45am...you get up, go to the bathroom, feel awake...get back into bed anyway, sleep for another hour and a half...really time to get up, do not feel awake at all.

you think of something important to say and then immediately forget it.

words come out of your mouth that have nothing to do with the conversation you're having or any conversations you've had in the last 24 hours.

you wear flip flops to class and when you come out it's snowing.

your parents are right.

I'm going to write my essay now.

Read, Read, Read

Books everyone should read...

Until There was You

All he was looking for was some peace and quiet. Instead, what ex-FBI agent Luke Grayson finds in the secluded cabin in the woods is a gorgeous, smoky-eyed woman…who just happens to be pointing a gun in his direction.

Anyway...choose a book, read it, and tell someone about it:)

Midweek Ski Day!

Thanks to Rose's brilliant idea, we went skiing today after classes for a break from school. It was a beautiful day with blue skies and perfect for pictures. I finally remembered to bring a camera, but after we got there, I found out that there was no battery left. Of course. So we used my phone to take a pic. We figured one was better than none :)

February 12th's Threefold Significance

Okay so if you haven't already heard, today was quite a historic day...or at least, today was a day of honoring historic people. The reason for this is threefold. One, it's Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday; two, it's Charles Darwin's 200th birthday; and three, it's the NAACP's 100th birthday.

Abraham Lincoln
was born February 12, 1809 in Illinois. During his life, Lincoln only had one year of schooling, but once he learned to read and write, he never stopped doing it. He was a self-taught lawyer and a good one. He was 6 foot 4, America's tallest president and the first to have a beard. If he doesn't top the list of our greatest presidents, he at least ranks near the top. When Lincoln was assassinated, the only money in his pocket was a $5 bill. After Booth shot him, Lincoln was taken from the theatre into an inn where he died the next morning on a bed that he had to be laid on diagonally because it was too short for him. Lincoln was president during one of the most troubling times in U.S. history, the Civil War, and although he was not popular with many people, basically all the Southern states, he didn't let that bother him and did what he knew was right. (Deseret News)

"I am successful today because I had a friend who believed in me and I didn't have the heart to let him down."

Charles Darwin
was also born February 12, 1809, but inEngland. Darwin went on a nearly five year voyage traveling the world, around the tip of South America, past Australia and the tip of Africa to the coast of Brazil and back toEngland. He is responsible for the theory of evolution, having studied geology while on the voyage. Darwin's theory of natural selection is famous because it means that organisms, animals and people who do stupid things die quickly and fortunately for the rest of humanity, their oafish genes aren't passed on to future generations. Survival of the fittest:) Be sure to check out http://www.darwinawards.com. You'll laugh. (Wikipedia)

"An American monkey, after getting drunk on brandy, would never touch it again, and thus is much wiser than most men."

The
NAACP
was founded February 12, 1909 by people who came from many different backgrounds. Some were black, some were white, some Jewish and some of other religious beliefs. The NAACP did a lot to move forward the work of the Civil Rights movement in the 20th century and they're still around today as America's biggest civil rights organization and has over one million members
throughout the world.

National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People

So there you go, a brief and probably boring synopsis of the significance of today.

A few more important things. First of all, congrats to Ashley for getting into the London study abroad! We're all jealous. Second of all, yesterday nine skiers beat the world record of skiing 11 ski resorts in one day and skied at 13, all in Utah! Can you imagine driving to 13 different ski resorts in one day? Crazy, but awesome.

Just like the movies

So the other day, my roommate Chelsea and I were walking back to the car after classes and while we were going up the stairs next to the bell tower, there were these two girls walking in front of us and both Chels and I were eavesdropping on their conversation like every other normal girl would have. Anyway, so the one girl says to the other, "I have to tell you something but you can't tell anyone else" and we got all excited to hear what see was about to say and right when she starts telling her, the bell tower starts playing Come, Come Ye Saints as if it was reprimanding us for eavesdropping and we couldn't hear her anymore! Ah...that would happen to us...
